I draw things, post interesting stuff, and own a David Bowie mug. I'm terrible at tagging and I really like Horror. Tread wisely, traveller~

'Powwow Preppers' and 'Top Chief': Indian Reality TV I'd Like to See
The new TV season is right around the corner. Hollywood is getting ready to launch another slate of reality programming. The list includes the usual collection of swamp people, mountain men and other kooky caucasians. I wish we could get the networks to take some inspiration from Indian country. They could put a whole native spin on reality show programming.

I don’t know if I’d like to see that, personally.  I think I’d rather see documentary-style coverage, maybe a little like how UFC Is done: It’s about charting people working their way to the top - how they train, and who takes home the title/winnings with respect for fighting in itself.  In this case, Pow Wow Dance.
Who rates the highest per round, you know?
The problem with Reality Show formats is it just tends to be about putting contestants against each other and feeding off of competitiveness in a negative way.   Producers and TV crew interview people and deliberately mislead their conversations and interviews so they have material that they can edit to make everyone fit a certain archetype as a character, instead of as a person.
I think Hollywood getting it’s fists on fimling and depicting our art forms is an iffy topic.  It would have ot be handled with the utmost respect, but that kind of broadcasting doesn’t necessarily bring in ratings.   Exposure is haaard when it comes to the Native way ahahaha.
Curious to know what others would like to see.
